Second Saturdays Push Hands

Are you a martial arts practitioner seeking opportunities to work with partners to complement your solo training and in-class experience? You're probably not looking for a new style or school-- just more chances to practice with various abilities, backgrounds, and body types. Plenty of other women and men from all marital backgrounds are looking for the same thing. Meet us at Ohlone Park and let's train every second Saturday!

Preparation

First, check with your doctor to ensure you can handle sustained exertion. Generally, you can control how "athletic" things get. But it's easy to get swept up in the moment, so be ready for some sweating and heavy breathing.

Wear comfortable, non-binding clothing. Jeans are a bad choice. Shirts with exposed buttons should be avoided. Clothing with exposed zippers, especially metal zippers, should be avoided. Athletic shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, baggy trousers, cargo pants, and yoga pants are all fine. Use your best judgment, but you don't want clothes that might impede you or your partner's movement.

Please don't wear watches, bracelets, necklaces, dangly things, or bulky rings. If you come with them, put them somewhere safe and out of the way.

Wear practical footwear. Sneakers without excessive cushioning, like skate shoes, Feiyue's, or trail runners, are good choices.

Bring hydration! There are generally fountains around, but having your own bottle nearby is handy.
